Thornton Willis
documentary for gallery exhibition, 2009
Thornton Willis is an artist who has been working for forty years pursuing just a few fundamental questions through his painting. By using apparently simple forms that reveal complexity as you examine them closely, he forces you to become aware of the fundamentals of what you’re seeing – form, color, volume and line.
This is a project I did for a show he exhibited in 2009 at Elizabeth Harris Gallery. This film screened at the gallery for the duration of the show.
You can visit his website, or his gallery, Elizabeth Harris Gallery.
